PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 23984 p4p, 23918 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yawa Kiang could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Way Nada's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 40 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 38 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nada has a takedown stuffed.
Kiang throws a quick counter kick to the body but Nada avoids it.
Nada closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kiang circles away.
Kiang thinks about countering with a body kick.
Kiang shoots in for a takedown but Nada shows good takedown defense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kiang defends well and Nada ends up having to push Kiang into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Yawa Kiang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.

Kiang shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kiang showed some decent athleticism there.

Kiang content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Nada is looking for a sweep. Kiang is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kiang stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nada desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Well, if Kiang is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Nada looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No luck for Nada with that takedown attempt.
Kiang looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Nada leaves Kiang with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nada throws a counter combo.
Nada dives in for a single leg takedown but Kiang sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kiang thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nada fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kiang tries for a takedown but Nada sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kiang on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Nada shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kiang pinned against the cage. Kiang gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And Kiang counters with a quick kick to the body but Nada blocks it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yawa Kiang dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kiang tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nada sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kiang somewhat.
Nada steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Kiang shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nada napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A lull in the action here.
Kiang wants to control but Nada is keeping him busy.
Nada is trying to control Kiang's posture but Kiang avoids it.
Nada is trying to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nada struggling a bit here.
Nada is trying to get back to half guard.
Nada wants to control but Kiang postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kiang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yawa Kiang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kiang sprawls well. Kiang wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nada gets slowly back to his feet.
Kiang quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Nada gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kiang to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kiang looking to sit in guard and control but Nada gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Yawa Kiang will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Nada fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kiang avoids it really well and circles away.
Kiang lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Nada is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kiang's half guard.
Yawa Kiang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang controlling the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nada seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Nada prevents Kiang from improving his position.

Nada slows the pace down in half guard.
Kiang is trying is best to control the position here.
Nada trying to control the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Nada stuffs the takedown.
Nada appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Kiang wants to clinch up but Nada keeps it at a distance.
Nada replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Kiang blocks it well.
Nada looks for a takedown but Kiang sprawls well.
Kiang jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
A lazy body kick from Nada
and Kiang counters with a good, hard body kick but Nada shrugs it off.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kiang shoots in for a double leg but Nada sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Nada shoots in and gets a takedown into Kiang's guard.
Nada is fighting to break Kiang's control of his arms but Kiang is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Way Nada has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Yawa Kiang is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kiang is trying to keep Nada in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada throwing strikes but missing.

And that's the end of the fight!
Way Nada comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kiang has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
