PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Great Scott (ranked 3020 p4p, 5068 weight class) and Sir Randy Elliot (ranked 211 p4p, 298 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Elliot's choice of entrance music: Princes of the Universe. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Great Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sir Randy Elliot!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Elliot tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Scott is in Elliot's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Elliot looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Scott trying to control but Elliot is working from the bottom.

Elliot looking for a guillotine here but Scott defends easily.
Scott passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott wants to pass the guard but Elliot is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Elliot's thigh. Elliot counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Elliot looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Elliot looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Scott passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott moves into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Scott looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Elliot is working to get back to half guard.
Scott trying to control but Elliot is having none of it.

Scott with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Scott is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Elliot has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Elliot tries to hold on but Scott postures up.
Elliot is wriggling around trying to escape.
Elliot manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Elliot is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Elliot looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Scott wants to pass to mount but Elliot is defending the position.

Elliot looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Scott is working for a submission of some sort.
Elliot is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Scott is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Elliot sees it coming and defends easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Great Scott dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Scott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Elliot gets back to half guard.

Elliot is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily.
Scott moves into full mount! Elliot won't be happy about that!
Scott controlling from mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Elliot is looking to escape.
Great Scott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Scott fails to move to back control.

Scott looking for a guillotine from mount but Elliot is having none of it.

Scott throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Elliot has his hands clasped together but Scott breaks the hold and Elliot is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Scott!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Great Scott!
An out of breath Great Scott thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
