Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ernesto Romero (ranked 850 p4p, 1193 weight class) and Vincent Van Elburg (ranked 68 p4p, 100 weight class). Vincent Van Elburg has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Vincent Van Elburg!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romero closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Romero has a couple of punches blocked by Van Elburg.
Romero misses with the head strike.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Romero.

Van Elburg fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Van Elburg's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Van Elburg has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Romero uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Romero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Van Elburg has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Romero has managed to get both his arms back between Van Elburg's legs - danger averted.
Van Elburg wants to control but Romero passes easily into half guard.

Van Elburg has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Romero can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Van Elburg tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Romero smiles and moves away.

Romero lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Van Elburg tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Romero is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Van Elburg has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Romero is looking to defend but Van Elburg has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Romero! Van Elburg pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Romero taps out and this one is all over!
