PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dodong Janjan (ranked 2278 p4p, 1978 weight class) and Yin Mao (ranked 194 p4p, 171 weight class). Janjan kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Love Addict. Mao has chosen HonestKey- Pass as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Yin Mao!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mao looks to land a body kick but Janjan moved away.
Mao throws a head kick that misses

and Janjan counters with a shoot takedown. Mao fights it but they end up in guard.

Mao has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Janjan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mao fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Janjan.

Janjan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mao felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Janjan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Janjan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mao to see if he's OK.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mao throws a hook but Janjan blocks it.
Janjan tries to counter with a takedown but Mao is quick to defend against it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Mao.

Janjan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mao to the ground. Janjan is now in Mao's guard.
Janjan throws an elbow that misses. Mao uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Janjan's guard. Nice move by Mao!

Janjan wants to sweep here but Mao controlling him for the moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mao wants to control from the top but Janjan keeps moving.

Mao slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mao engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Janjan is rocked!
Mao lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Janjan up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Mao from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Janjan's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Yin Mao!
During a confident post fight interview, Yin Mao thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
