Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Leaf (ranked 4039 p4p, 2996 weight class) and Hands Norseson (ranked 309 p4p, 250 weight class). Hands Norseson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Leaf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hands Norseson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norseson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Leaf.
Leaf doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Norseson cracks Leaf with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Norseson has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Norseson misses with a wild body shot.
Norseson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Leaf misses with a hook. Norseson ducked under it nicely.
Norseson scores with a shot to the body.
Norseson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A swing and a miss from Leaf.
Leaf displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Norseson throws out the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Norseson lands with a hook. Leaf tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Leaf is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Norseson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Leaf connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Leaf ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Norseson misses with a looping left.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Leaf is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A big left from Leaf misses.
Hands Norseson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leaf throws a body shot but no joy.
Leaf misses with a looping left.
It seemed like Norseson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Norseson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Leaf momentarily.

Leaf scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
A lull in the action here as Leaf stalls from top position.
Leaf wants to control but Norseson is keeping him busy.
Norseson taking punishment in the form of punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Norseson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Norseson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Leaf lands some shots froms side control.
Leaf controls the position from side control.
Leaf has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Leaf sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Norseson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Norseson looking for a sweep but Leaf has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Leaf takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
BOOM! Leaf connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Norseson is bucking up trying to escape but Leaf cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Norseson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Leaf moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Norseson has worked his arm free - good work by Norseson!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leaf has an Americana. Norseson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Leaf is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Leaf hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jay Leaf!
An out of breath Jay Leaf thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
