Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Lassiter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and MONTY STEVEZ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lassiter comes into the arena with Chumbawamba - Tubthumping blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Lassiter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, MONTY STEVEZ! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lassiter throws a hook but STEVEZ avoids it easily. Lassiter moves out of range as STEVEZ strikes. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Lassiter misses with a wild body shot. Lassiter misses with a hook. STEVEZ ducked under it nicely. Lassiter cracks STEVEZ with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Lassiter has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning STEVEZ to stand back up!
It looks like MONTY STEVEZ has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lassiter slaps away a takedown attempt from STEVEZ, before circling back to the center of the mat. STEVEZ blocks a jab. STEVEZ doesn't manage to clinch there - Lassiter circles away.
Lassiter misses the shot to the body. Lassiter throws and low kick but STEVEZ moves out of range easily. Lassiter swings away with a leg kick that misses. Lassiter takes a swing at STEVEZ's ribcage but misses. Lassiter catches STEVEZ napping and connects with a big right hand that sends STEVEZ to the canvas!
Lassiter preventing the sweep. STEVEZ trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! STEVEZ keeping moving, preventing Lassiter from controlling successfully. Lassiter tries to stand but STEVEZ is controlling from the bottom. STEVEZ is pulling down on Lassiter's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. STEVEZ working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lassiter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lassiter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Lassiter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Lassiter catches STEVEZ napping and connects with a big right hand that sends STEVEZ to the canvas!
That has opened up MONTY STEVEZ's cut even more. Lassiter tries to stand but STEVEZ is controlling from the bottom. Lassiter is stalling in the full guard. Lassiter is looking to stand up but STEVEZ won't let him. STEVEZ is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lassiter trying to control but STEVEZ is working from the bottom. STEVEZ has control of Lassiter's left arm, preventing Lassiter from doing any damage. STEVEZ working for a triangle but Lassiter defends it easily.
STEVEZ looks gassed!
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Lassiter cracks STEVEZ with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Lassiter has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning STEVEZ to stand back up!
The cut above MONTY STEVEZ's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. STEVEZ fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Lassiter cracks STEVEZ with a hook to the temple - STEVEZ is on wobbly legs here! Lassiter swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! STEVEZ falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Lassiter wins by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Paul Lassiter!
