PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Vino Kourov (ranked 2238 p4p, 2505 weight class) and Mateo Hernandez (ranked 154 p4p, 174 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kourov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to COME ON. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mateo Hernandez!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kourov.
Kourov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Kourov tries to clinch but Hernandez is having none of it.
Kourov missing with a left hand there. Hernandez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kourov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hernandez.

Hernandez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kourov's head backwards.

A little jabbing left from Hernandez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kourov throws a hook but Hernandez avoids it easily.

Hernandez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hernandez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hernandez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kourov misses with an uppercut
and Hernandez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hernandez lands a lovely overhand right.

Kourov scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Oh Kourov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kourov throws a lazy uppercut
and Hernandez scores with a counter punch that sends Kourov to the canvas! Hernandez smells blood - he's punishing Kourov with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Kourov has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mateo Hernandez!
Mateo Hernandez tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
In defeat, Vino Kourov stepped up to the mic, saying 'there's vomit on his sweat ! mom's spaghetti's !'.
