PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapad Amiga (ranked 23973 p4p, 23809 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 47 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 37 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Salvacion drives through with a takedown into guard.
Amiga striking off his back but it's not causing Salvacion any problems.
Amiga managing to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Salvacion slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga pulls Salvacion in close to his closed guard and prevents Salvacion from doing any damage or advancing position.
Amiga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Salvacion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Amiga.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Salvacion shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Amiga pinned against the cage. Amiga gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Amiga drops down looking for a counter takedown but Salvacion sprawls and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Amiga shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salvacion pinned against the cage. Salvacion gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Salvacion fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Amiga to the ground. Salvacion is now in Amiga's guard.
Amiga pulls Salvacion in close to prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Salvacion controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Amiga has control of Salvacion's left arm, preventing Salvacion from doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Salvacion closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Salvacion lands in his opponent's guard.

Amiga has control of Salvacion's left arm, preventing Salvacion from doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Salvacion looking to sit in guard and control but Amiga gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Amiga stays in close to Salvacion's body and controls the position.
Salvacion seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion shows good takedown defense.

Amiga shoots in and gets a takedown into Salvacion's guard.
Amiga slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Salvacion is trying to control the position but Amiga postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Amiga controls from within his opponent's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tapad Amiga will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Amiga.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.
Salvacion goes for a double leg but Amiga avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Amiga continues to drive forward.
Amiga feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Amiga shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Salvacion defends it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Salvacion just content to control the position.
The ground and pound from Salvacion seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is looking to reverse the position.
Amiga struggling a bit here.
Salvacion has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Amiga being controlled for a moment.

Amiga controls the position for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga tries for a takedown but Salvacion sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
As Amiga backs off Salvacion throws a huge counter combo but Amiga manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tapad Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rico Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
