PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 23960 p4p, 23894 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Way Nada is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 40 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 38 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nada stuffs the takedown attempt from Kiang. Kiang gets slowly back to his feet.
Nada tries to counter with a clinch but Kiang shakes him off and moves away.
Kiang throws a body kick that misses
and Nada counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Kiang darts in looking for a takedown but Nada gets double underhooks and turns Kiang into the cage.
Nada is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yawa Kiang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang gets underhooks to prevent Nada's takedown attempt.
Nada tries for a takedown. No joy.

Nada gets underhooks to prevent Kiang's takedown attempt.
Nada has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kiang avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Nada has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kiang uses from the top position.
Nada is adopting a defensive guard.
Nada is continuing to stall.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nada looking to control.
Nada seems keen to control Kiang's posture.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiang is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Kiang closes the distance and clinches up with Nada, looking for a takedown. Kiang pushes Nada against the cage but Nada circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Nada. No joy for Kiang on that attempt.
Nada stuffs the takedown attempt from Kiang. Kiang gets slowly back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kiang shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nada as he jumps to the side.
Kiang shoots in looking for a takedown. Nada tries to sprawl out of it but Kiang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nada manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nada unleashes a big counter combination but Kiang bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Nada fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kiang avoids it really well and circles away.
Kiang appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Nada gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kiang to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Nada seems keen to control Kiang's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nada can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kiang controls the pace.
Nada is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Nada is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kiang controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada avoids a kick to the body.
Nada stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nada wants it to stay on the feet.
Nada shoots in and drives through. Kiang sprawls well.
Nada shoots for a takedown but Kiang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Yawa Kiang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.

Nada looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Kiang!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kiang tries to improve position but can't.
Kiang can't do much from the bottom here.
Nada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kiang keeps working.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Yawa Kiang will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Nada tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kiang sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nada somewhat.

Kiang scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nada is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kiang connects with a decent elbow.
Yawa Kiang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Nada can't do much from the bottom here.
Kiang throws an elbow but Nada slips to the side and avoids it well.
Kiang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Nada's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kiang tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nada sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kiang somewhat.
Nada thinks about the counter body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Nada closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kiang to the mat! Kiang manages to get full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kiang looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Kiang avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yawa Kiang showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kiang has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
