Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Badger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Burt Angle! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Badger throws a nice inside leg kick. Badger swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Angle gets the takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Angle prevents Badger from escaping the position. Badger wants to control but Angle postures up. Angle working the ground and pound from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Badger takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Badger is looking for a sweep. Angle lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Badger down.
Angle creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Angle cracks Badger with a big elbow. Angle lands a nice forearm strike. Angle landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Angle lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. A lull in the action here. Angle lands some shots froms side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badger is working to avoid the ground and pound but Angle connects with a decent elbow. Angle works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. You can see the frustration on Badger's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Angle in side control lands a decent elbow. Angle looks gassed! Angle cracks Badger with a big elbow. Badger is trying to control Angle's posture but Angle avoids it. Angle is chipping away with strikes.
Badger on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Badger struggling a bit here. Badger takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Badger is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Badger takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Angle is in the full mount, landing strikes. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Angle cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Angle is landing with some decent strikes but Badger is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Badger is desperately trying to improve his position but Angle has a good base and remains in mount. Angle fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Burt Angle dominated that round. That's time! Badger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Angle closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Badger to the mat! Badger manages to get full guard. Angle postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Badger is pulling down on Angle's head to control his posture. Badger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Angle is one step ahead there. Angle lands a couple of digs. Angle landing some decent shots from guard. Angle lands a couple of digs. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Angle won't allow Badger to sweep him here. Angle with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Badger lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Angle! Badger tries to control but Angle wriggling away. Angle is looking to get to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Angle can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Angle manages to regain half guard. Good work. Angle is looking for a sweep. Badger is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Badger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Angle keeps working. Angle wants to control but Badger is keeping busy.

Badger could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Angle slips a jab and a cross from Badger.

Badger throws a nice looking combination but Angle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Angle shoots in but Badger avoids the takedown attempt easily. Angle circles away from the clinch attempt and Angle counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Angle. Badger leaning his opponent against the cage. Angle is working for takedown but Badger is calmly controlling the position for now. Chris Badger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Burt Angle. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badger throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Badger avoiding damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Badger stops a takedown attempt from Angle.
Chris Badger has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Badger is trying to break free. Angle is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Badger gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Angle has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Badger scores with a shot to the side of Angle's head. Burt Angle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Badger looking to slow down the pace here. The is referee keeping an eye on Badger - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That is naaassty. Angle trying to control the position but Badger is working away. Badger tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Angle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Angle scores with punches from side control. Angle working away. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Badger is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Badger striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
And that's the end of the fight! Burt Angle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Angle winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
