Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Griffin could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jose Rivera's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Griffin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Rivera! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin misses with a takedown attempt - Rivera sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Rivera bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rivera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rivera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Rivera in side control, just content to control the action for now. Griffin tries to improve position but can't. Rivera is trying to get an arm triangle but Griffin is defending well. Griffin is trying to escape the position but Rivera is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin is looking for a sweep. Rivera has knee on belly and moves into mount. Rivera thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Rivera looking to control and managing it successfully. Rivera looks gassed! Rivera dominating with strikes here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin working to try and regain half guard.
Griffin tries to hold on but Rivera pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Griffin can't escape the position.
Griffin is in a horrible position here. Rivera smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Griffin tries to buck Rivera off but he can't manage it. Rivera looking to control and managing it successfully. Griffin really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera controlling the pace for now. Rivera pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Rivera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Griffin is looking to improve his position but Rivera isn't that keen on the idea. Rivera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Griffin is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Griffin tries to reverse the position but Rivera maintains control. Rivera avoids the attempt from Griffin to control. Rivera sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Rivera jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Griffin manages to avoid the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Rivera dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Rivera changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Griffin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Griffin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rivera. Griffin managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rivera.
Rivera working away. A lull in the action here as Rivera stalls from top position. Rivera working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Griffin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rivera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rivera is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin trying to control but Rivera flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Rivera somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Griffin is really stuck here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Griffin is in bad spot here.

Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rivera on the ground. Rivera thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Griffin can't escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Griffin with him. Griffin is trying to defend but Rivera has an arm under the chin now! Griffin grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jose Rivera!
