PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kugus Amiga (ranked 23638 p4p, 23642 weight class) and Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 28 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 52 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Amiga defends it nicely.
Amiga changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Amiga will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Amiga napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Amiga can't do much from the bottom here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A lull in the action here.
Salvacion working the head with strikes.

Amiga holds on to Salvacion's head and controls the position momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga is trying to improve his position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Salvacion controlling the position from side mount.
Amiga can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Salvacion defends it nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Salvacion is defended easily by Amiga.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salvacion shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Amiga pinned against the cage. Amiga gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kugus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clifford Val Salvacion.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga stuffs the takedown attempt from Salvacion. Salvacion gets slowly back to his feet.
Amiga quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clifford Val Salvacion dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Salvacion dives in and grabs Amiga's left leg, looking for a takedown. Amiga pushes down on Salvacion's head and hops out.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Amiga shoots in and drives through. Salvacion sprawls well.
Salvacion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Amiga.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.
Amiga has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kugus Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion slaps away a takedown attempt from Amiga, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Amiga will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Amiga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Salvacion defends well and Amiga ends up having to push Salvacion into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Salvacion unleashes a big counter combination but Amiga bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is pressed up against the cage. Salvacion has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Amiga down to the mat. Amiga avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Salvacion drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Amiga wants to sweep but no luck.
Amiga being controlled here, momentarily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is continuing to stall.
Salvacion has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The adventures of Salvacion the control monster continue. Boring.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clifford Val Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Salvacion misses with a takedown attempt - Amiga sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Amiga thinks about countering with a body kick.

Amiga clinches up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Salvacion pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Amiga has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Salvacion clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Salvacion trying to control but not successfully.
Salvacion tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
You can see the frustration on Salvacion's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion trying to control the hands but Amiga breaks the grip.
Amiga controls the action.
Kugus Amiga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Salvacion is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Amiga is not going to allow Salvacion to sit and survive in this position.
Kugus Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Clifford Val Salvacion is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kugus Amiga showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Salvacion has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
