Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Garuda Kaji (ranked 3934 p4p, 4188 weight class) and Kaoru Hanayama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaji comes to the cage accompanied by Young Eagle's Song (Yokaren's Song). Hanayama has chosen I Want To Break Free as his entrance music. Kaji has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Garuda Kaji! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaoru Hanayama! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaji fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hanayama manages to avoid it. Hanayama drives through with a takedown into guard. Kaji wants to sweep here but Hanayama controlling him for the moment. Hanayama is fighting to break Kaji's control of his arms but Kaji is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Kaji is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hanayama postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Hanayama decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kaji, up you get! Kaji is breathing heavily. Kaji swings for the body but Hanayama moves out of range.
Hanayama raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Hanayama is looking to clinch but Kaji is avoiding it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hanayama. Hanayama closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kaji circles away. A little feinted left hand from Kaji on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Kaji throws a shot to the body.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hanayama tries to free his leg and advance position but Kaji is retaining full guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kaji tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kaji is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hanayama defends well.

That's going to take a lot out of Kaoru Hanayama. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hanayama is defended easily by Kaji. Hanayama is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kaji sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hanayama has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kaji finds it's way round the side to connect with Hanayama's head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A head kick misses from Hanayama. Kaji swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. A close round but Kaoru Hanayama will probably get the nod. That's time! Kaji's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Kaji connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hanayama. Hanayama circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Hanayama is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kaji sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Nice shot lands for Kaji. Kaji gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hanayama has picked Kaji up and slammed him! Kaji can't keep hold of the triangle and Hanayama manages to pass to side control! Hanayama wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaji keeps working. Kaji is looking to reverse the position. Kaji is trying to control Hanayama's posture but Hanayama avoids it. Hanayama trying to control the action but Kaji is working from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Kaji's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hanayama has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. A slow jab from Kaji misses its intended target. Hanayama fails with a takedown attempt. As Hanayama tries to get set, Kaji tries to push him back and clinch up but Hanayama manages to avoid the attempt. Kaji displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hanayama. Garuda Kaji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaoru Hanayama. Hanayama tries to clinch up. Hanayama gets tackled into the cage by Kaji. Kaji maintains the clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kaji misses with a hook from the clinch. Hanayama blocks an uppercut.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Kaji. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Kaoru Hanayama will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Kaji cracks Hanayama with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Kaji lands a nice hook to Hanayama's body. Hanayama takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Hanayama tries to clinch there but Kaji circles away.
Kaoru Hanayama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kaji jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Kaoru Hanayama is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Kaji is trying to get back to half guard.

Hanayama is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kaji will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Hanayama wants to control but Kaji is keeping him busy. That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Hanayama decides to stand back up. Kaji throws a right hand that misses
and Hanayama counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Hanayama fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kaji avoids it really well and circles away. Garuda Kaji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaoru Hanayama. Hanayama closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kaji quickly recovers to half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kaji is trying to get back to full guard. Garuda Kaji has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kaji moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Kaoru Hanayama. I've got Hanayama winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
