PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eden Sampson (ranked 4231 p4p, 4296 weight class) and Zachary Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 200 weight class). Sanders has chosen Icon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eden Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zachary Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Topper Green and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders connects with a high kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sampson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sanders - the referee stops the clock and Sampson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sanders. Sampson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Sampson tries to clinch there but Sanders circles away.

and Sanders holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Sanders's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sanders works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Sanders stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanders keeps control of Sampson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Sanders drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sampson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Sampson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sanders to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sanders postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sampson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sanders, into his guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sampson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanders swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sampson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sampson passes into half guard.

Well, if Sampson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sampson wants to stand up but Sanders is controlling the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Eden Sampson will probably get the nod.

and Sampson counters with a shoot takedown. Sanders fights it but they end up in guard.

Sampson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sanders for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sampson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sanders!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sampson wants to get back to his feet but Sanders is holding on tight.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sanders taking shots to the head.
Sampson cracks Sanders with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
