Morrell is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: David Morrell training. Both these fighters are unbeaten, so somebody's 0 has got to go! The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrell looks to land a combination but Schmidt avoids it well.
Schmidt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
David Morrell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schmidt throws a leg kick but Morrell checks it.
Schmidt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Morrell throws a hook to the side of Schmidt's head but Schmidt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Schmidt shoots for a double leg takedown but Morrell sprawls well. He's pushed Schmidt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Schmidt takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Schmidt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Morrell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Morrell is looking for a sweep.
Morrell is letting Schmidt control him for a moment.
Morrell is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Schmidt is controlling him well.
Morrell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Schmidt is looking to take a break and control but Morrell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
