Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Builder (ranked 4171 p4p, 4164 weight class) and Aamek Lion (ranked 490 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Builder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aamek Lion!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lion shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Builder manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Builder tries to pull guard but Lion holds him up against the cage and eventually Builder drops back down to his feet.
Builder has Lion pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lion manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Builder is trying to pull guard but Lion turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Builder. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lion manages to break the clinch.
Lion dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Builder takes the fight into the clinch.

Builder ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Builder no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lion is looking to stand up but Builder won't let him.

Lion might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Builder haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Builder throws a lazy head kick

and Lion counters with a nice double leg into side control. Builder won't be happy with that.

Builder sneaks back into half guard.
Builder wants to get back to full guard.
Builder is staying active underneath Lion, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lion wants to stand but Builder has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Builder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lion looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Builder slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Builder is on top in guard.

Lion is trying to keep Builder in close.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lion wants to sweep here but Builder controlling him for the moment.
Builder stops Lion from standing up.
Builder with a flurry of punches that miss.
Builder cracks Lion with a solid left hand.
Builder slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lion wants to improve his position but instead Builder has moved into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Builder misses with a head kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Builder.
Lion with the counter takedown but Builder avoids it easily.

Lion drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Builder manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Lion manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Builder on his heels. He'll look to pass Builder's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Builder manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lion goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Lion pulls Builder into guard.

Builder sitting in guard here, content to control.

Lion is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lion can do anything to dispel that myth.
Builder passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Builder is looking to take a break and control but Lion is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lion tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Builder wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Builder trying to control the position but Lion is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Builder passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Lion!

Jacob Builder overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Builder working for a guillotine from mount but Lion is in no mood to give up.
Lion can't escape the position.
Lion is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Builder sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Lion tries to lock up and control but Builder gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lion is breathing heavily.
Builder controlling the pace for now.
Builder has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Builder punching from mount but Lion doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Lion is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Lion can't escape the position.
Builder lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lion hang on?

Builder has control of Lion's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lion regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Lion working to try and regain half guard.
Builder throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Builder misses with a head shot.
Builder takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Builder is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lion is surviving well by controlling Builder's body position as best he can.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Builder throws a shot to the body.
Lion tries for a takedown but Builder circles away easily
and Builder counters with a stiff right hand.
Builder shoots in for a takedown but Lion shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Builder shoots in and drives through. Lion sprawls well.
Lion shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
It looked like Builder was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Lion feints and as Builder raises his hands in defense, Lion changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Builder manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Builder is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lion can do to turn this around?
Lion takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lion darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Builder has one foot on Lion's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Lion shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Builder to counter with a crisp jab.
Jacob Builder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aamek Lion.
Builder tries for a takedown but Lion sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lion lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Horrible takedown attempt by Builder or perhaps it was just good defense by Lion, which made it look bad.
Jacob Builder is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lion slows down the pace here.

Lion's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Builder lands a jab to Lion's midsection.

Lion feints and as Builder raises his hands in defense, Lion changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Builder pushes Lion off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Lion forces Builder back against the cage and clinches.

Lion manages to break the clinch.
Builder shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lion defends it nicely.

Lion breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Aamek Lion seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Lion shoots in and gets a takedown into Builder's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Builder manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Builder is looking to control Lion's arms but Lion gets an underhook and turns him. Now Builder has his back to the cage.
Lion tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Builder manages to pull guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Builder is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Builder controlling Lion's posture.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacob Builder showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Builder, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
