Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kai Gibson (ranked 2749 p4p, 2059 weight class) and Alwin Kronenberg (ranked 317 p4p, 242 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kai Gibson !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alwin Kronenberg!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kronenberg uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gibson .
Kronenberg looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Kronenberg slips a straight right by Gibson .
Kronenberg throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gibson misses with a left hand
and Kronenberg counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gibson won't be happy with that.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kronenberg working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Kronenberg postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kronenberg is trying to ground and pound but Gibson uses the momentary lack of control by Kronenberg to regain half guard.

Gibson 's coaches at Raptors Den MMA have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kronenberg is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Gibson goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Kronenberg!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Alwin Kronenberg!
Alwin Kronenberg was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
