Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joaquim Caetano (ranked 2652 p4p, 2733 weight class) and Ariel Pérez (ranked 179 p4p, 186 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joaquim Caetano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ariel Pérez! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pérez misses with a body shot.
Ariel Pérez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice sprawl there from Pérez as Caetano shoots in. Pérez throws an overhand right that lands on Caetano's shoulder, as Caetano tries to avoid the shot. Pérez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Caetano. Pérez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Caetano fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Caetano waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pérez. Pérez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Caetano manages to avoid it. A telegraphed right hand from Pérez misses the target. Caetano ducks under a wild hook from Pérez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slow jab from Pérez misses its intended target. Pérez lands a slapping body shot.

and Caetano counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Caetano is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pérez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Caetano.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caetano seems to be working for a kimura but Pérez defends the submission attempt. Pérez wants to get back to his feet.
Pérez has hold of Caetano's hands but Caetano slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Pérez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Caetano prevents Pérez from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Caetano wants to work for an arm triangle but Pérez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pérez wants to get back to his feet. Caetano throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pérez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Caetano. Caetano looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Pérez is trying to stand.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pérez is trying to stand up here but Caetano is controlling him well. Caetano looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Caetano wants to take a breather but Pérez is having none of it. Caetano uses his free foot to push down on Pérez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pérez. Caetano landing punches. Pérez is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Caetano is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pérez is surviving well by controlling Caetano's body position as best he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Caetano sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Poor strikes thrown by Caetano there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Caetano landing strikes from the mount. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Caetano wants to control the pace but Pérez is squirming around nicely. You get the feeling that Pérez really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Caetano gets the takedown into side control. Caetano throws a strike aimed at the side of Pérez's head but Pérez avoids it well. Pérez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Caetano asserts his dominance and retains side control. Caetano thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Caetano is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pérez can do to turn this around? Caetano remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pérez is pushing Caetano's head away, looking to escape. Caetano manages to hold on to the position though.

Pérez is not content to let Caetano control the position. Pérez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Caetano. Pérez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Caetano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pérez prevents Caetano from moving into mount. Caetano tries to score with some ground and pound. Pérez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Pérez tries to escape but Caetano is in control. Pérez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Caetano can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pérez is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pérez is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Pérez taking shots to the head.

Pérez wants to control but Caetano is having none of it. Caetano tries to control but Pérez wriggling away. Pérez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Caetano gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Pérez counters with a lovely straight right hand! Caetano comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. It looks like Joaquim Caetano has been cut. Caetano uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pérez. Ariel Pérez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A telegraphed right hand from Pérez misses the target. Pérez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Pérez throws a shot from downtown. Caetano moves away and avoids it. Caetano moves out of range of the strikes. Caetano looks to throw a body kick and Pérez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Caetano shoots in for a takedown but Pérez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joaquim Caetano. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Caetano ducks under a wild hook from Pérez. Pérez misses with a looping left. Caetano dives in for a single leg takedown but Pérez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Pérez lands a right hand. Pérez misses with a punch on the inside.

Caetano scores with an uppercut up the middle. Caetano is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pérez can't fight it off and eventually Caetano manages to take the fight to the floor. Pérez looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Caetano forces his way into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Caetano is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pérez is just riding it out for now. Caetano eventually gives up the hold. Pérez is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Caetano has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Pérez is tapping! This fight is all over!
