PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Remi Nilsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stark is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Black Sabbath - Iron Man. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Remi Nilsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Stark!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark tries to clinch up.
Remi Nilsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nilsen.
Nilsen closes the distance and clinches up with Stark, looking for a takedown. Nilsen pushes Stark against the cage but Stark circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nilsen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stark shoots and misses
and Nilsen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nilsen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Stark counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nilsen!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Remi Nilsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nilsen tries to hold on but Stark postures up.
Nilsen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Nilsen avoids a series of strikes thrown by Stark.
A nice elbow there by Stark.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nilsen is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nilsen tries to control the position but Stark now has his back.
Nilsen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stark on the ground.
Stark is trying to stick to Nilsen's back but Nilsen is turning into Stark. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Stark's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Nilsen.
Stark has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Nilsen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Stark has his foot on Nilsen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nilsen works his way back into a safe position though.
Stark controls Nilsen momentarily but Nilsen frees himself.
Nilsen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nilsen trying to control the position from guard on top but Stark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stark is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nilsen is not content to let Stark control the position.
Stark passes to side control.
Stark trying to control the action but Nilsen is working from the bottom.
Stark is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nilsen's shoulder. That is not cool.
Stark looks gassed!
Sloppy strikes there by Stark.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stark scores with punches from side control.
Nilsen manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stark not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nilsen is looking to escape.
Nilsen moves into full guard.
Nilsen keeping full guard, as Stark tries to pass.
Nilsen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Nilsen looking for a sweep. Not yet Nilsen, not yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nilsen can't keep his opponent in guard - Stark advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Stark takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Stark moves nicely into side control.

Stark tries for a kimura but Nilsen is defending well.
Stark prevents Nilsen from escaping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Stark dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Stark counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stark.

Stark trying to control the position from guard on top but Nilsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stark slips nicely into half guard.

Stark has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Nilsen defend it? Stark steps over the head and cranks it - Nilsen is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Stark!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tony Stark!
