Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Welsh Samson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zilvinas Umantas!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Samson gets caught flat footed, as Umantas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Samson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Samson wants to take the fight to the mat but Umantas manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Samson gets underhooks to prevent Umantas's takedown attempt.
Samson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Umantas gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Umantas trying to pass the guard but Samson defending well.
Umantas trying to control from half guard but Samson is working away.
Umantas is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Umantas looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Umantas is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Umantas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Samson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Umantas stalling.

Umantas is looking for a kimura but Samson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Umantas to get the leverage.
Umantas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Samson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Umantas is working for a submission of some sort.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Umantas in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Umantas looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Samson actively working from the bottom here.

Umantas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Umantas is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Samson defends it well.

Umantas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Samson sees it coming and defends easily.
Samson is trying to get back to full guard.
Umantas passes to full mount!
Samson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Umantas on the ground.
Umantas wants to control the pace but Samson is squirming around nicely.

Umantas forces the positional change into back control.

Umantas has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Samson! Can he survive? No! He's out! Umantas gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
