Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kevin Silveiro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Erkki Tumminen!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tumminen gets caught napping as Silveiro dives in and scores a takedown. Tumminen manages to retain guard.
Silveiro preventing the sweep.
Silveiro wants to pass the guard but Tumminen is keeping the position.
Silveiro postures up.
Silveiro passes Tumminen's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Silveiro is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tumminen defends it well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silveiro in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silveiro passes to side control.

Silveiro passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Tumminen!
Tumminen is trying desperately to improve position.
Silveiro fails to advance to Tumminen's back.
Tumminen is trying to reverse the position but instead Silveiro has taken his back - oops!

Tumminen defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Silveiro's arms.

Silveiro is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Tumminen with him. Tumminen is trying to defend but Silveiro has an arm under the chin now! Tumminen grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kevin Silveiro!
Kevin Silveiro is the new welterweight champion!
After the fight, Kevin Silveiro was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
