Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Walter Payton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James Wong! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wong lands a jab-cross combination. Payton shoots in for a double leg but Wong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Wong throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Payton. Payton shoots in but no luck this time. Payton tries to clinch but Wong is having none of it. Wong looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Payton misses with an uppercut. Wong saw that one coming. Payton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Payton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wong paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wong scores with a sloppy right hand. Payton should have avoided that one. Wong lands a left and a right that sends Payton crashing to the canvas! Wong dives into mount looking to finish!
It looks like Walter Payton has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Payton wants to hold on but Wong pushes him away. Payton working to try and regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wong manages to capitalize on a mistake by Payton to take his back! Wong is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Payton knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Payton for a finish. Payton just looking to survive in the bad position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Payton is breathing heavily. Wong not allowing Payton to control his hands. Wong is hanging on to Payton's back as he tries to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Payton showing good submission defense here.

Wong is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
