PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tanaka Matsuda (ranked 202 p4p, 541 weight class) and Thor White (ranked 23 p4p, 61 weight class). Matsuda comes to the cage accompanied by Gojira - Another World. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thor White!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White scores with a nice strike.

It looks like Tanaka Matsuda has been cut.
Nice defenses there by White.
White fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
White throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
White fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
White swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that White has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Matsuda ducks down and throws a hook to the body but White moves away.
White throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Matsuda sees it coming and avoids it easily.

White shoots in and gets a takedown into Matsuda's guard.

White drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Matsuda dives on top into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matsuda thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

White has his foot on Matsuda's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Matsuda works his way back into a safe position though.

White pulls Matsuda in close to prevent any damage.

White is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

White is looking to cinch up a triangle. Matsuda throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to White's body to avoid the submission. White has instead reached around Matsuda's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! White arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
