PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gakus Amiga (ranked 23843 p4p, 23644 weight class) and Richard John Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga with a lazy takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Salvacion.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amiga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Gakus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard John Salvacion.

Amiga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to avoid it but Amiga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salvacion to the ground. Salvacion escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Salvacion now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.

Amiga quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Amiga wants to control the position but Salvacion says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Amiga is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Salvacion's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Salvacion's back!
Amiga slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Amiga is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Amiga gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Amiga gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Amiga apologises and we restart here on the feet.

It appears Amiga was looking to counter with a kick there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Amiga shoots for a double leg takedown but Salvacion sprawls well. He's pushed Amiga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.
Amiga seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amiga is trying to keep Salvacion in close.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Salvacion is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Amiga throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A nice side step and Salvacion releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Amiga slaps away a takedown attempt from Salvacion, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Salvacion closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Amiga is looking to regain half guard here but Salvacion keeps moving and retains side control.
Gakus Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
