PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eaton Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Rawlings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cox comes to the cage accompanied by Hatebreed - Destroy Everything. Rawlings has chosen Hells Bells as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eaton Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Rawlings!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rawlings shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rawlings is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Cox is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.
Cox is looking to get to half guard.
Cox tries to lock up and control but Rawlings gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rawlings wants to take Cox's back here but Cox is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Cox is trying desperately to improve position.
Rawlings throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rawlings throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cox because Rawlings loaded up on that one.
Rawlings postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cox looks a forlorn figure.
Cox is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cox sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rawlings prevents Cox from improving his position.
Cox slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Rawlings wants to control from the top but Cox keeps moving.

Rawlings drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cox manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rawlings has Cox in his guard.
Cox not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rawlings working a defensive guard here.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rawlings working for a triangle but Cox defends it easily.
Cox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rawlings wants to sweep here but Cox controlling him for the moment.
Cox wants to pass the guard but Rawlings is keeping the position.
Cox won't allow Rawlings to sweep him here.

Cox is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Cox trying to control the position from guard on top but Rawlings is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rawlings uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cox.
Cox throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cox stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


Rawlings is rocked!
Cox fakes the body blow, causing Rawlings to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Rawlings goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Eaton Cox!
