PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryant Wyatt (ranked 4582 p4p, 5449 weight class) and Deshun Harkless (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wyatt comes to the cage accompanied by armed&dangerous. Harkless is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by hi my name- eninem. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bryant Wyatt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deshun Harkless!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harkless decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harkless looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Harkless thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Harkless seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wyatt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Wyatt wants to improve his position but Harkless is controlling well.
Harkless perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harkless is pressing down on Wyatt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wyatt is holding on for now.
Harkless wants to take a breather but Wyatt is having none of it.

Harkless tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Well, if Harkless is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Wyatt swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Harkless counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Wyatt swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Harkless gets control of Wyatt's arms and successfully pulls guard. Harkless will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Harkless has his foot on Wyatt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wyatt works his way back into a safe position though.

Wyatt looking to sit in guard and control but Harkless gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wyatt throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Harkless is pushing down on Wyatt's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wyatt is fighting to maintain full guard but Harkless has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wyatt wants to improve his position but Harkless is controlling well.
Wyatt avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Harkless.

Harkless wants to get back to his feet.
Harkless seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wyatt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It looks like Harkless might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Wyatt is trying to stand up here but Harkless is controlling him well.
Harkless takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Wyatt wants to improve his position but Harkless is controlling well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Wyatt tries to clinch

and Harkless counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wyatt won't be happy with that.

Wyatt sneaks out the side door and pushes Harkless away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Wyatt is breathing heavily.

Harkless fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wyatt to the ground. Harkless is now in Wyatt's guard.
Wyatt is wriggling around but Harkless manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Harkless in particular looking to stall.
Harkless passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Wyatt!

Wyatt tries to clinch but Harkless is having none of it.
Harkless shoots in for a takedown but Wyatt shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Harkless looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bryant Wyatt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Horrible takedown attempt by Harkless or perhaps it was just good defense by Wyatt, which made it look bad.

Harkless does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Wyatt tries for a takedown but Harkless circles away easily

and Harkless counters by clinching up.
Harkless has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Harkless is trying to pull guard but Wyatt has him pressed against the cage.

Harkless manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Deshun Harkless showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Wyatt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Wyatt manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Wyatt is not content to let Harkless control the position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Wyatt is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Wyatt parries the strikes from Harkless easily there. Harkless is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Wyatt to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Deshun Harkless is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Harkless has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
