This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 49 wins and 30 losses; Jackson Ramirez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 15 wins and 20 losses; Gaston Juncker! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Juncker shoots in for a takedown but Ramirez shows good takedown defense. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Juncker has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Ramirez looking to score a takedown here. Juncker is defending well but Ramirez drives through and ends up in Juncker's guard. Ramirez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Juncker is letting Ramirez control him for a moment. Ramirez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Juncker tries to improve position but can't. Ramirez is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a sustained period of stalling by Ramirez.

You can see the frustration on Juncker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Juncker tries to bench press Ramirez off him but Ramirez keeps the position. A lull in the action here as Ramirez stalls from top position.

Ramirez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well, if Ramirez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Ramirez is looking to work his way around to Juncker's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!!
