Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Tavistock (ranked 3797 p4p, 24331 weight class) and Zhandouji Quantou (ranked 441 p4p, 575 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Tavistock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zhandouji Quantou! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tavistock shoots for a takedown but Quantou saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Tavistock is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Quantou.
It looks like Chris Tavistock has been cut. Tavistock fails with the takedown. Quantou lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Quantou shoots in looking for a takedown. Tavistock tries to sprawl out of it but Quantou keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tavistock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Quantou leaves Tavistock with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Tavistock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tavistock misses with a takedown attempt - Quantou sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tavistock. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tavistock fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Quantou stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Quantou wants it to stay on the feet. No luck for Tavistock with that takedown attempt. Tavistock is breathing heavily. Quantou closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tavistock to the mat! Tavistock manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quantou stands up from Tavistock's guard - Quantou perhaps looking for a knockout. Tavistock looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Quantou shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Quantou was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Quantou staying calm. Quantou working the ground and pound. Tavistock takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Tavistock is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Quantou is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Quantou just content to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tavistock wants to get back to his feet but Quantou drags him back down. A lull in the action here. Quantou scores with punches from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quantou controlling the position. Tavistock tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Tavistock really wants to buck Quantou off and get back to his feet. Tavistock on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tavistock tries to get out of the position. Quantou postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tavistock looks a forlorn figure.
Quantou with a couple of short strikes. Quantou is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tavistock can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Quantou is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Tavistock is surviving well by controlling Quantou's body position as best he can. Quantou content just to control the position here. Tavistock is trying to stand up. Quantou fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Tavistock is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tavistock takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Oh Tavistock is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Quantou unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Tavistock wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Quantou celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zhandouji Quantou!
