The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knapp drives through with a takedown into Zoerner's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zoerner can do anything to dispel that myth.
Zoerner is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Zoerner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Knapp is looking to stand up but Zoerner won't let him.
Knapp is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Zoerner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Zoerner has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Zoerner is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Let's hope that Zoerner has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Knapp is looking to get back to full guard here but Zoerner has managed to pass to side control instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zoerner's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Knapp looks to move to half guard but instead Zoerner has passed into mount! Damn!

Zoerner is riding his opponent, not letting Knapp buck him off.
Knapp wants to escape the position.

Knapp is trying to defend against the choke here but Zoerner has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Zoerner Tightens the hold and Knapp taps out furiously! Zoerner displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
