PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Andrew Watts (ranked 4815 p4p, 5133 weight class) and Nexaras Maltus (ranked 509 p4p, 542 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Watts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nexaras Maltus!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and David Schapiro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watts misses with a series of wild punches.
Maltus misses with a double jab.
It looked like Watts was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Watts wants to clinch.
Sloppy strikes from Watts. Those never looked like landing.

Watts clinches.
Watts is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Maltus misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Watts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maltus lands a right hand that snaps the head of Watts backwards.

Watts fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Maltus has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Watts ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maltus moves away.
Watts backing away here, and Maltus unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Watts is trying to force a seperation but Maltus has the dominant position.

That's time! Watts's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Maltus cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Maltus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Maltus creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Maltus tries to work over Watts's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Maltus takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Watts's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Watts breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Maltus crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Watts - the referee stops the clock and Maltus gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Watts. Maltus manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Well Maltus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
