Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23867 p4p, 23825 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 40 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 33 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buktot misses with a takedown attempt
and Buut counters with a good, hard body kick but Buktot shrugs it off.
Buktot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buut defends it nicely.
Buut steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Buut with that takedown attempt.
Buktot tries to counter by clinching up but Buut breaks away and moves out of range.

Buut fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Buktot sprawls well initially but Buut persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Buktot is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Buut sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Buktot defending well though.
Buktot desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buut perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Buktot keeping control of the position.
Buktot is looking to control Buut's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Buktot avoid being mounted?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buut shoots for a double leg takedown but Buktot sprawls well. He's pushed Buut's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Buktot quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Buut shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buktot defends it nicely.
Buktot appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

Buktot manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Buut on his heels. He'll look to pass Buut's guard now, I'm sure.

Buktot postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Buut is looking to sweep but instead, Buktot has passed into half guard.
Buut is doing well to control the position and prevent Buktot from advancing to side control.

Buktot seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Buut drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Buut showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Buktot wants to sweep here but Buut controlling him for the moment.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Buut is stalling in the full guard.
Buktot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buktot lands with a punch from half guard.
Buut is trying is best to control the position here.
Buut moves into full guard.
Buut trying to keep a closed guard but Buktot is proving a slippery customer.
Buktot not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Buktot goes for a double leg but Buut avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buut continues to drive forward.

Buut gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Buut sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Buktot is trying to get back to full guard.
Buktot is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Buktot wants to control but Buut is keeping busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Walay Buut showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Buktot shoots in looking for a takedown but Buut manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Buktot's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Buut tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Buktot shoots in but Buut avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Buut looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Buktot scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Buut manages to mount him!

Buut trying to control but Buktot is having none of it.
Buut takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buut is continuing to stall.
Buktot avoids a series of strikes thrown by Buut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buut lands a couple of good shots and Buktot has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Buut is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Buut has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Buktot trying to control the position but Buut manages to sink in the hooks.
I would not like to be Buktot right now.

Walay Buut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Buut has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
