The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Avangyan gets a double leg takedown into Kiang's guard. Kiang is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kiang wants to control the position but Avangyan says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Kiang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Avangyan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Avangyan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Avangyan is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Kiang is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Arman Avangyan! Arman Avangyan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
