PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Devon Black (ranked 1367 p4p, 1686 weight class) and Denis Burlaka (ranked 183 p4p, 222 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Denis Burlaka!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burlaka takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Burlaka tries to bum rush Black with a series of wild strikes but Black uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Black attempts a counter takedown but Burlaka avoids it well and moves away.
Burlaka keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Black.
Black changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Burlaka tries to avoid it but Black manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Burlaka to the ground. Burlaka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Burlaka misses with an uppercut. Black saw that one coming.
Burlaka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Black throws a jab but it's blocked by Burlaka.
Black ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Burlaka moves away.

Black appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Black counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Burlaka, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Black throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burlaka sees it coming and avoids it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Burlaka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Black wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Black counters with a shoot takedown. Burlaka fights it but they end up in guard.
Burlaka wants to get back to his feet but Black passes into half guard.
Burlaka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Black has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Burlaka is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Black yanks on the arm and Burlaka is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Black.
