Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ruben Valderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Cocacola (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruben Valderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Benny Cocacola!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cocacola showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Valderon.
Cocacola shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valderon pinned against the cage. Valderon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Valderon throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Valderon doesn't manage to clinch there - Cocacola circles away.
Ruben Valderon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circle momentarily. Valderon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Benny Cocacola has been cut.
Valderon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cocacola shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Valderon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Cocacola slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Valderon.
Valderon wants to control the action here but instead Cocacola manages to pass to full mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valderon is looking to get back to is feet but Cocacola passes into side control.

Valderon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cocacola wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Cocacola politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cocacola prefers to stall for the moment though.
Cocacola wants to control but Valderon is keeping him busy.

Valderon is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Cocacola is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Cocacola is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

The fight stays on the outside here - Cocacola looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Valderon takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Cocacola shoots in but Valderon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Valderon misses with a two punch combination.

Cocacola closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Valderon is looking to escape.
Cocacola controlling the pace.
Valderon is trying to escape back to his feet but Cocacola uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Valderon misses with an elbow from the bottom.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Valderon is not content to let Cocacola control the position.
Cocacola is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Valderon tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cocacola presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Valderon is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Valderon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Valderon tries to close the distance and clinch but Cocacola swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Valderon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Valderon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cocacola to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Valderon tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Cocacola is trying to control the action in half guard but Valderon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cocacola uses his free foot to push down on Valderon's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Valderon.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cocacola jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Valderon manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Cocacola shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Benny Cocacola showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Valderon throws the left hand but Cocacola avoids the punch easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Valderon misses the target.
Cocacola tries a head kick but it misses.
Valderon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Valderon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Valderon sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Cocacola seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Valderon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Valderon pushes Cocacola off but Cocacola dives into side control.
Cocacola takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Valderon to pass into mount.
Valderon is trying desperately to improve position.
Cocacola looking to control and managing it successfully.

You get the feeling that Valderon really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Valderon trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Ruben Valderon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Valderon is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cocacola takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Despite being in the dominant position, Benny Cocacola just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cocacola shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Valderon but Valderon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cocacola shoots for a double leg takedown but Valderon sprawls well. He's pushed Cocacola's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
