Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Mengele throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Souza sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Souza slaps away a takedown attempt from Mengele, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mengele misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mengele shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Souza defends it nicely.
Diego de Souza has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josef Mengele.

Mengele is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mengele shoots for a takedown but Souza saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Horrible takedown by Mengele or perhaps it was just good defense by Souza which made him look bad.

Mengele throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Souza's waist but Souza gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mengele off to one side.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Souza comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Mengele changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Souza tries to avoid it but Mengele manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Souza to the ground. Souza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Souza throws a leg kick which misses Mengele's front leg but catches the back leg as Mengele tries to avoid it.
Souza feints and then cracks Mengele's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mengele down.
Souza connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mengele momentarily.
Souza cracks Mengele with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Mengele tries a head kick but it misses.
Souza scores with a jab to the body.

and Souza counters with an inside leg kick.
Souza fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mengele looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Mengele shoots for a takedown but Souza saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Souza lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Souza scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Souza lands with an uppercut that bounces Mengele off the cage and back into rage.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Diego de Souza.
Well Souza has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
