Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Bronchel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Herbert Monsignor! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Bronchel. Bronchel shoots in and drives through. Monsignor sprawls well. Monsignor fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bronchel, pushing him back against the cage. Bronchel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Monsignor shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Bronchel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Monsignor trying to control here.
Monsignor manages to get to full guard.
Bronchel wants to stand but Monsignor has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Monsignor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bronchel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bronchel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Monsignor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bronchel's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronchel is trying to control the position but Monsignor postures up. Monsignor tries to free his leg and advance position but Bronchel is retaining full guard. Monsignor trying to control the position from guard on top but Bronchel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Monsignor lands a couple of digs. Monsignor won't allow Bronchel to sweep him here. Monsignor passes into half guard. Monsignor is tying to control. Bronchel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Bronchel throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Monsignor manages to pass to side control. Monsignor tries to score with some ground and pound. Bronchel controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Bronchel wants to control but Monsignor postures up. Bronchel stops Monsignor from passing to mount. Monsignor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bronchel keeps working. Bronchel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Monsignor on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Monsignor landing strikes. Monsignor has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Bronchel swats away the attempt to clinch by Monsignor. Bronchel swats away the attempt to clinch by Monsignor. Bronchel throws a series of punches but Monsignor moves out of range. Bronchel is breathing heavily. Monsignor has managed to clinch.
Monsignor is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bronchel pulls him back up using the underhooks. Bronchel holding his opponent close, against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronchel stops a takedown attempt from Monsignor.
Mike Bronchel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Herbert Monsignor. Bronchel prevents a takedown attempt there.
Monsignor changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bronchel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bronchel wants to clinch and Monsignor counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Monsignor just leaning against Bronchel, taking a breather. Bronchel wants to break free. Monsignor has Bronchel pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bronchel manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Monsignor on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronchel not landing any meaningful shots this time. Monsignor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bronchel is working away from the top position though. Monsignor actively working from the bottom here. Monsignor is not content to let Bronchel control the position. Monsignor actively working from the bottom here. Bronchel wants to stand but Monsignor has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Monsignor looking for submissions off his back. Bronchel is thwarting Monsignor's attempts to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mike Bronchel will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Monsignor gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bronchel counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Bronchel is looking to take a break and control but Monsignor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Monsignor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bronchel is working away from the top position though. Bronchel not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Monsignor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Monsignor. Bronchel is fighting to break Monsignor's control of his arms but Monsignor is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Monsignor is trying to control the position but Bronchel postures up. Bronchel postures up and lands a big shot to Monsignor's brow. Monsignor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Monsignor is breathing heavily. Bronchel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monsignor keeping moving, preventing Bronchel from controlling successfully. Monsignor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bronchel has gone for a leg lock! Monsignor slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bronchel's guard. Monsignor wants to control from the top but Bronchel keeps moving. Bronchel throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Monsignor stands up from Bronchel's guard - Monsignor perhaps looking for a knockout. Monsignor with a poor takedown and Bronchel counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Monsignor's guard now. Monsignor throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bronchel is sitting in close to Monsignor's body. Monsignor has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Bronchel is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Bronchel is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Monsignor.
