The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klepper swings for the body but Alibekev moves out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Alibekev misses the target.
A telegraphed right hand from Klepper misses the target.

Klepper throws a jab when Alibekev was well out of range.
Alibekev wants to clinch up but Klepper keeps it at a distance.
Alibekev shoots in for a takedown but Klepper shows good takedown defense.
Klepper throws a hook but Alibekev avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alibekev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Klepper pinned against the cage. Klepper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Klepper shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Klepper was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Klepper trying to control the action but Alibekev is working from the bottom.
Klepper has hold of Alibekev's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Alibekev tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Klepper cranks the arm and Alibekev screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Alibekev, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Hannes Klepper!
A relieved looking Hannes Klepper thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
