PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapad Amiga (ranked 23723 p4p, 23560 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 49 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 40 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Amiga shoots in and gets a takedown into Salvacion's guard.
Amiga controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Salvacion wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Let's hope that Salvacion has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion controls Amiga momentarily but Amiga frees himself.

Amiga has control of Salvacion's left arm, preventing Salvacion from doing any damage.

Salvacion is fighting to break Amiga's control of his arms but Amiga is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Amiga has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Amiga continues to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amiga tries to clinch up.
Salvacion shoots in and drives through. Amiga sprawls well.

Salvacion gets caught napping as Amiga dives in and scores a takedown. Salvacion manages to retain guard.

Salvacion is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Amiga is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Salvacion distracts Amiga with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Salvacion stays in close to Amiga's body and controls the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Salvacion darts in looking for a takedown but Amiga gets double underhooks and turns Salvacion into the cage.
As Salvacion looks to move away, Amiga throws a big counter combo but Salvacion just gets out of the way.
Amiga shoots in looking for a takedown. Salvacion tries to sprawl out of it but Amiga keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Salvacion manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Salvacion is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Amiga gets caught napping as Salvacion dives in and scores a takedown. Amiga manages to retain guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Salvacion seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Amiga has his hands on Salvacion's head, controlling the position.

Rico Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Amiga shoots for a takedown but Salvacion saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

Amiga stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Amiga wants it to stay on the feet.
Salvacion just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromAmiga.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salvacion fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Amiga avoids it really well and circles away.
Amiga quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Amiga goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Salvacion is trying hard to land a takedown here. Amiga sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tapad Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rico Salvacion.

Salvacion shoots for a takedown but Amiga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
It appears Amiga was looking to counter with a kick there.
Amiga stuffs the takedown.
Amiga is looking to counter with a body kick.
Salvacion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Salvacion let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Amiga gets a takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Amiga in particular looking to stall.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tapad Amiga.
I think Amiga has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
