PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kyung Ho Kang (ranked 3357 p4p, 3604 weight class) and Santos Dumont (ranked 219 p4p, 231 weight class). Kang comes to the cage accompanied by Better Than Yesterday . Kyung Ho Kang is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyung Ho Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santos Dumont!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dumont tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kang sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dumont somewhat.
Dumont wants to clinch.
Kang closes the distance and lands a one-two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kang thows a left - swing and a miss!

Kang gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dumont to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kang utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Dumont drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dumont jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kang is looking to stand up but Dumont isn't so interested in that idea.
Dumont working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kang's head.

Kang had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dumont defends it easily.
Dumont wants to pass the guard but Kang is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kang looking for subs off his back but Dumont has passed one foot through into half guard.

Dumont is looking for a kimura but Kang is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dumont to get the leverage.
Dumont missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Dumont is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kang doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dumont.

Dumont looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well, if Dumont is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kang looking for submissions off his back.

Kang is defending against the submission attempts here by Dumont.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dumont looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Dumont not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Kang is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dumont pulls his head out easily.
Dumont throwing shots but Kang is blocking nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dumont looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

It looks like Kyung Ho Kang has been cut.
Dumont content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Santos Dumont dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kyung Ho Kang's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Kang gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dumont has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dumont is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dumont trying to control the position from guard on top but Kang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dumont is pushing down on Kang's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kang is fighting to maintain full guard but Dumont has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dumont is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kang!
Kang is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kang has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Dumont's lack of action.

Dumont is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kang has managed to free his arm - good work.

Dumont is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dumont perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Dumont is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Dumont is trying to work for a kimura but Kang is defending well.
Dumont thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kang's head.
Dumont is trying to control. Kang wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kang tries to get to full guard but Dumont has control of the leg.

Kang has hold of Dumont's hands but Dumont slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Kang looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Dumont is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Santos Dumont showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A jab from Kang does it's job there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Dumont.
Dumont wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kang keeps working.

The referee asks Dumont politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Dumont prefers to stall for the moment though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dumont is trying to work for a kimura but Kang is defending well.

Dumont goes for a cartwheel guard pass here but Kang does a handstand and catches Dumont in mid air with a triangle! Could it be? It is! It's the triple decker pecker wrecker! The fighters land on the ground with Kang on top - Dumont is already out from the submission! Kang gives Dumont's pecker the obligatory post submission twist and this one is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall over! Are you kidding me! That is world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That guy is my hero!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (TDPW) . Kyung Ho Kang!
An out of breath Kyung Ho Kang thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
