Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Curls clinches with his opponent.
Sulvar has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Curls is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though. Curls jumps into guard, dragging Sulvar to the mat.
Curls pulls Sulvar in close to his closed guard and prevents Sulvar from doing any damage or advancing position. Sulvar sitting in guard, not really doing much. Sulvar being controlled here momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Curls wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Sulvar is now in half guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Sulvar controlling the positon. Curls wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Sulvar's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Sulvar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Curls is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Curls looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Curls might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sulvar haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Sulvar biding his time, looking for the opening.
Sulvar gets his hands free as Curls looks to control. Sulvar is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Curls reaches up to try and control the position but Sulvar seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Curls rolls and tries to escape and now Sulvar has his back!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Sulvar is looking to control Curls but Curls is wriggling around and keeping busy.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Curls trying to control the hands but Sulvar won't let him. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Will Sulvar go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
And that's the end of the fight! Sulvar takes the fight on points by 12 to 0. An out of breath Tres Sulvar thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. |
