Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anacleto Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Summers! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Summers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Diaz tries to avoid it but Summers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Diaz to the ground. Diaz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Diaz could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Diaz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Summers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Diaz won't be happy with that. Diaz can't do much from the bottom here. Diaz manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Diaz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Diaz seems to be working for a kimura but Summers defends the submission attempt. Diaz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Summers defends it well. Diaz working the head and body with strikes. Summers with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Summers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Summers passes into side control.

It looks like Anacleto Diaz has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Summers thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Diaz if he has to take too many more of those.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Diaz isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Summers stacks Diaz on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Summers! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Summers passes easily into side control. Nice work. Summers decides to take the fight back to the feet. Summers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Diaz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Summers. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Summers is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold. Diaz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Summers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz. Diaz has his takedown stuffed and Summers counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Summers taking a breather here. Diaz gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Diaz taking some punishment here, with Summers in his half guard. Summers is trying to control the action in half guard but Diaz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Diaz wants to get back to full guard. Diaz keeping control of the position.

Summers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Diaz swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Summers is now in Diaz's guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Summers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Summers trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Diaz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Summers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Summers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Summers gets to his feet - Diaz follows without any prompting.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Summers stuffs the takedown. Michael Summers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Summers scores with a head kick.
Summers forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches. Summers wants to break free but Diaz has control.

Diaz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anacleto Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Summers manages to break the clinch.
Summers misses with a takedown and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Summers manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Michael Summers. Well Summers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
