Sampson has chosen Killem Killem as his entrance music. Ned Sampson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jean Baptiste!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ned Sampson!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baptiste looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sampson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sampson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Baptiste circles away from the clinch attempt.

Baptiste shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Baptiste showed some decent athleticism there.
Baptiste looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Baptiste stops Sampson from getting back to his feet.
Baptiste slips a nice elbow through Sampson's hands, connecting with Sampson's forehead.

Baptiste is looking for a kimura but Sampson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Baptiste to get the leverage.
Sampson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sampson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Baptiste lands strikes from half guard.
Sampson is looking to escape.
Baptiste working the head and body with strikes.
Sampson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Baptiste. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Baptiste is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sampson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Baptiste.
Sampson is looking to escape.
Baptiste is pressing down on Sampson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sampson is holding on for now.

Baptiste is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Baptiste is breathing heavily.
Sampson pushes Baptiste off looking to stand but Baptiste dives back in and keeps control.
Baptiste looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sampson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Sampson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Baptiste tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sampson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Baptiste is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sampson is just riding it out for now. Baptiste eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Baptiste seems to be looking for submissions.
Sampson is looking to escape.

Baptiste is working for a submission of some sort.
Baptiste missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Baptiste is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Sampson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Baptiste prevents Sampson from standing back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sampson tries to clinch up but Baptiste circles away and keeps his distance.
Sampson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sampson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Baptiste paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sampson moves in looking to clinch but Baptiste pushes him off.
Sampson tries to clinch up.
Sampson is looking to clinch but Baptiste is avoiding it.
Baptiste blocks a head kick by Sampson.

Baptiste feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Baptiste sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sampson's guard.

Baptiste is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Baptiste has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sampson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Baptiste working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sampson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Baptiste off and cradles Sampson's limp body as Baptiste celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jean Baptiste!
