And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 10 losses; Tyron Scott! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and Sam Margolis.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Scott gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Merlin (2) vs (0) Scott The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Merlin stands and throws Scott's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Merlin (5) vs (0) Scott Merlin tries to advance to mount but can't. Scott is trying to escape the position but Merlin is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
