Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Boreas Galanis (ranked 4183 p4p, 4644 weight class) and Anthony Smith (ranked 440 p4p, 460 weight class). Boreas Galanis could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Anthony Smith's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boreas Galanis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Smith!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith leaves Galanis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith wants to counter with a clinch but Galanis pushes him away.

Smith throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Galanis was covering up waiting for the punch and Smith finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Galanis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Galanis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Galanis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Smith's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Galanis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smith looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Galanis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith wants to counter the offense by Galanis and move into the clinch position.
Galanis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Galanis shows good takedown defense.
Galanis wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.

Smith scores with a takedown into Galanis's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smith postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Galanis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.
Smith with a flurry of punches that miss.
Smith trying to control but Galanis is working from the bottom.

Galanis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.
Smith postures up in Galanis's guard and throws a big left but Galanis blocks it.
Galanis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Smith accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Smith controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Galanis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Galanis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Galanis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Galanis's guard.
Galanis keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Galanis is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.
Galanis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Galanis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Galanis manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Galanis's guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boreas Galanis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Galanis tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Smith defends well and Galanis ends up having to push Smith into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Smith tries to counter by closing the distance.

Smith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Galanis gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Galanis jumps guard and drags Smith to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Galanis shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Galanis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Galanis shoots and misses
and Smith counters with an outside leg kick.

Smith gets tackled into the cage by Galanis. Galanis maintains the clinch.
Smith goes for a takedown in the clinch but Galanis prevents it.
Galanis wants a takedown but no success here.

Galanis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Galanis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Galanis misses with a wild combination.
As Galanis backs off Smith throws a huge counter combo but Galanis manages to avoid it all.
Galanis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Galanis tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Galanis to the ground. Galanis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Boreas Galanis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Galanis is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Galanis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the cage.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Galanis pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Galanis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.

Smith jumps into guard, dragging Galanis to the mat.
Smith managing to control the position.
Let's hope that Smith has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Galanis is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Anthony Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.
Galanis wants to stand and escape but instead Smith has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Smith gets to his feet - Galanis follows without any prompting.
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Galanis fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Smith has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Galanis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Galanis moves into the clinch.
Smith lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Smith tries to score a body lock takedown but Galanis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Boreas Galanis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Smith.
Smith lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Galanis jumps into guard, dragging Smith to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Galanis still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Galanis has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Galanis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.

Galanis decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Galanis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Smith has his takedown stuffed
and Galanis counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smith thinking.

And that's the end of the fight!
Boreas Galanis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Galanis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
