And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Humphrey Wellington! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Wellington keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Wellington moves into the clinch successfully.
Wellington manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Everett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wellington is adopting a defensive guard. Everett looking to sit in guard and control but Wellington gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Everett (0) vs (2) Wellington We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wellington pushes down on Everett's leg and manages to get into half guard. Everett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wellington on the ground. Wellington is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Everett defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wellington is working for a submission of some sort.
Wellington is looking to advance position but Everett won't allow it. Wellington looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Wellington in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Everett tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Wellington!
