The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
McDonald shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McDonald shoots in but no luck this time.
McDonald throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ramirez's waist but Ramirez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McDonald off to one side.
Jackson Ramirez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David McDonald.
Ramirez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McDonald.
McDonald closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ramirez circles away.

McDonald is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ramirez jumps into side control!

Ramirez has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of McDonald's body.
Ramirez seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Ramirez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
You can see the frustration on McDonald's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Ramirez is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Ramirez.
