This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 48 wins and 20 losses; Nick Rodriquez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 11 losses; Tyron Scott! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Scott keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rodriquez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Rodriquez (2) vs (0) Scott Rodriquez passes the guard and advances to mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Rodriquez (5) vs (0) Scott Scott is squirming around, avoiding Rodriquez's attempts to control the action. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Scott is looking to improve his position but Rodriquez isn't that keen on the idea. Rodriquez controlling from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rodriquez avoids the attempt from Scott to control. Rodriquez controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Rodriquez tries to control but Scott wriggling away. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Scott is looking to get to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Rodriquez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Scott regains half guard.

Well, if Rodriquez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Scott is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Rodriquez wants to free his trapped foot but Scott is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Scott is doing well to control the position and prevent Rodriquez from advancing to side control. Rodriquez prevents Scott from improving his position. Rodriquez trying to control the pace.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Scott trying to control but Rodriquez postures up.
Rodriquez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Scott is looking to control Rodriquez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scott avoid being mounted? Rodriquez is controlling the pace.
Scott is controlling Rodriquez's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Scott won't allow Rodriquez to pass to mount. We've been hearing good reports from Rodriquez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Rodriquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scott keeps working. Rodriquez controlling the action here.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rodriquez in particular looking to stall. Scott keeping control of the position. Rodriquez is working for a submission of some sort.
