PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 23661 p4p, 23621 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walay Buut is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 43 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 33 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buut goes for a double leg but Buktot avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buktot continues to drive forward.

Buktot shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Buktot showed some decent athleticism there.
Still in half guard, Buktot seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buut wants to improve his position but Buktot is controlling well.
Buktot is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Buut regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Buktot.
Buktot is stalling in the full guard.
Buut throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Buut shoots in but Buktot avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Buut tries to score a power double leg takedown but Buktot sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buut somewhat.
Buktot thinks about countering with a body kick.
Dawindi Buktot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

Buktot misses with a takedown attempt - Buut sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Buktot shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Buut defends it nicely.
Buut is trying to counter with his kicks.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Buktot looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A nice side step and Buut releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Buktot tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Buut swivels and escapes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buut slaps away a takedown attempt from Buktot, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Buut follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Buut throws a leg kick
and Buktot counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Buut fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Buktot sprawls well initially but Buut persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Buktot gets back to full guard.
Buut throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot pulls Buut in to control the position.
Buktot is trying to control the position but Buut postures up.

Buut content to stall in guard here.
Buktot seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Buut slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Buktot shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Buut sprawls well. Buut wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Buktot gets slowly back to his feet.
Buut feints a counter leg kick.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Buktot stuffs the takedown attempt from Buut. Buut gets slowly back to his feet.

Buut tries to sprawl but Buktot drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Buut has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Buktot is working away from the top position though.
Buktot perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Buktot seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Buut for as long as he can get away with.

Buktot is working for a submission of some sort.
Buut wants to control but Buktot is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Buut is controlling Buktot's trapped leg to prevent Buktot from advancing to side control.
Buktot tries to pass to full mount but Buut defends it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Buktot throws a quick counter kick to the body but Buut avoids it.

Horrible takedown attempt by Buktot or perhaps it was just good defense by Buut, which made it look bad.

No luck for Buut with that takedown attempt.
Buktot jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Buut shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Buktot napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Buktot is trying to control Buut's posture but Buut avoids it.

Buktot avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Buut.
Buktot wants to get back to his feet but Buut drags him back down.

Buktot dodges the ground and pound from Buut.
Buut moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Buut postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Buut shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buktot pinned against the cage. Buktot gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Buut shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Buktot as he jumps to the side.
Walay Buut has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dawindi Buktot is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Buktot closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Buut quickly recovers to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Walay Buut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Buktot has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
