PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mental Warrior (ranked 1627 p4p, 2436 weight class) and Little Late (ranked 225 p4p, 293 weight class). Warrior comes to the cage accompanied by Side to Side. Little Late told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mental Warrior! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Little Late! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Warrior avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A shot to the liver by Warrior. Beautiful body shot. Nice uppercut lands for Warrior. That snapped Late's head back.
It looks like Little Late has been cut. Late lunges at Warrior with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Warrior's hand. Late uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Warrior. Warrior has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Jungle Room in the buildup to the fight. Late defending well as Warrior loads up on a big left hand. Warrior drops Late with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Late looks back up at him and smiles so Warrior waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Late is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Warrior throws out a loose jab but Late uses good head movement to avoid it. Late looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Late is still on wobbly legs! Can Warrior finish him? Little Late seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Warrior connects with a body shot that sends Late's belly button to the back. Late seems to have recovered his senses. Late throws a body kick that misses. Warrior throws out a loose jab but Late uses good head movement to avoid it. Warrior misses with a jab, cross combination.
Some wild striking there from Late.
Late tries to clinch up but Warrior circles away and keeps his distance. Warrior swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Warrior lands a nice shot to the body.
Late misses with a leg kick and Warrior counters with a nice right hand that sends Late toppling to the canvas! Late scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Warrior finish him?! Warrior drops Late with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Late! Warrior dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mental Warrior! A less than humble Mental Warrior misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities. Little Late was interviewed post fight and said 'Duh?!'.
