Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Caleb DeCoteau (ranked 2358 p4p, 3767 weight class) and Chief Waterfall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caleb DeCoteau has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Caleb DeCoteau!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chief Waterfall!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waterfall has his takedown stuffed
and DeCoteau counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

DeCoteau closes the distance and clinches.
Waterfall effectively controlling the action here.
Waterfall stalls.
DeCoteau can't get the takedown.
Waterfall misses with some punches.
A short left from Waterfall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Waterfall wants to break the clinch but can't.
Waterfall misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Waterfall blocking some punches.
DeCoteau tries to score a body lock takedown but Waterfall shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Waterfall is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of DeCoteau's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take DeCoteau's back!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
DeCoteau can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DeCoteau trying to control the position but Waterfall manages to sink in the hooks.

A close round but Chief Waterfall will probably get the nod.

Waterfall tries to close the distance and clinch but DeCoteau swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Waterfall drops down looking for an ankle pick but DeCoteau pulls his leg out and moves away.
DeCoteau tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Waterfall with the counter takedown but DeCoteau avoids it easily.
DeCoteau doesn't manage to clinch there - Waterfall circles away.

Waterfall gets tackled into the cage by DeCoteau. DeCoteau maintains the clinch.
Waterfall tries to pull guard but DeCoteau forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
DeCoteau is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Waterfall is defending well.
DeCoteau is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Waterfall is looking for a sweep.
DeCoteau is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Waterfall will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Waterfall takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Waterfall striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
DeCoteau has control of an arm but Waterfall manages to advance to DeCoteau's back!
Chief Waterfall has got the better of the ground game so far.
I really don't envy DeCoteau right now.
DeCoteau trying to control the hands but Waterfall breaks the grip.
DeCoteau is trying to break free.
DeCoteau trying to control the hands but Waterfall won't let him.
Waterfall doesn't have the hooks in and DeCoteau manages to turn into his guard.

DeCoteau drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Waterfall manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now DeCoteau has Waterfall in his guard.

Waterfall pushes down on DeCoteau's leg and manages to get into half guard.

DeCoteau is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Waterfall pulls his head out easily.

Waterfall is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and DeCoteau defends it well.
DeCoteau blocking the ground and pound attempt from Waterfall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
DeCoteau is looking to control Waterfall's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can DeCoteau avoid being mounted?
DeCoteau is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Caleb DeCoteau will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Waterfall can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as DeCoteau controls the pace.

DeCoteau wants to pass the guard but Waterfall is keeping the position.

Waterfall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but DeCoteau can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Waterfall has closed the distance and engaged DeCoteau in a clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
DeCoteau changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Waterfall fights it off and pushes away nicely.

DeCoteau moves into the clinch successfully.
Waterfall gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from DeCoteau.
DeCoteau goes for a takedown attempt but Waterfall pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caleb DeCoteau. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DeCoteau misses with an attempted mid kick.
Waterfall tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Waterfall closes the distance and clinches.
Waterfall is pressed up against the cage. DeCoteau has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Waterfall down to the mat. Waterfall avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Waterfall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Waterfall shoots in looking for a takedown. DeCoteau tries to sprawl out of it but Waterfall keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DeCoteau manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

DeCoteau gets a clinch.
DeCoteau wants a takedown.

DeCoteau decides to pull guard.
Waterfall trying to control but DeCoteau is working from the bottom.

DeCoteau is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Waterfall defends well.

DeCoteau is trying to keep Waterfall in close.
Waterfall trying to control the position from guard on top but DeCoteau is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

DeCoteau isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Waterfall stacks DeCoteau on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Waterfall!
DeCoteau trying his best to control but Waterfall has mounted him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
DeCoteau is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waterfall controlling the position easily from mount.
DeCoteau wants to control but Waterfall is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Caleb DeCoteau.
I think DeCoteau has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
